Maybe I'm still missing something. Hmmm...

- Ok, but if you have to protect it, why on earth would you go there and show the smoke monster where the light is?!

- Star Wars reference from Hurley! And then another Star Wars reference "I have a bad feeling about this"

----- Break #1

- I love Hurley. Everything he does brings a smile to my face. :)

- See, the island is going to be on the bottom of the ocean, which will sync the two realities.

- Rose & Bernard! I totally forgot about them. That's cool that they're back in the story again

- But I really don't think that sinking the island will accomplish what anti-Jacob thinks it will

- And, by the way, anti-Jacob is EVIL (in case you didn't know that)

-----Break #2

- Desmond's had a flash, hasn't he? He's seen the future for what anti-Jacob is going to make him do, just like he saw flashes w/ Charlie

- Juliet! I wonder if she's going to run into Sawyer and get connected with him, or if it's just the Oceanic 6 plus Desmond who end up all in the same place (at least that's what I'm assuming is what's coming)

- They remember dying! What must that be like?!

- That's super cool that they got their memories back and could speak English, but how sad for them that they remember that they die. Maybe the cool part of that is that they were together.

-----Break #3

- Ooo, they are playing the destiny music

- Oh! Richard is aging! I guess now that Jacob is dead, Richard won't live forever.

- Lapidas was in the sub, huh? Interesting that he was able to live when no one else was

- There's a cool idea we haven't heard before: why not just fly off the island?!

- Wow, that's awfully bold Jack! I want to know the surprise. :)

-----Break #4

- Interesting that Jack USED to be married to Juliet

- And yet, I'll be that's the whole thing, I'll be that all of LOST is actually a "Long Con" possibly of Jacob on anti-Jacob

- The rain is coming, and something bad always happens when it rains!

- Desmond is the connection between the two realities, just like he was the constant for Faraday

- Ok, but we're not even half-way through the episode yet, so how can we already be here, how can we already be at the light looking down?!

-----Break #5

- Is that Boone & Shannon?! Haha!

- Woah, they didn't waste any time, did they?

- That pull away shot going down the water fall WAS just like the shot of Locke & Jack looking down into the hatch at the end of season 1

-----Break #6

- Oh, this is the first time that Charlie has seen Claire in this sideways reality!

- Hmm, what's w/ the dead body? And now what's Desmond doing, I wonder? And what's w/ the light and everything?

- What the heck just happened? Is the light gone? Hmmm, this doesn't look good

- Wow, anti-Jacob is human again! Maybe that killed the island? Looks like anti-Jacob isn't the smoke monster anymore, which means he now can be killed! And maybe, he isn't all bad anymore?

-----Break #7

- I wonder if Claire & Kate are going to get their memory flashes through this pregnancy/contractions thing

- Claire & Kate are having the baby just like it happened in the jungle in the REAL timeline -- THERE IT IS! They are getting their flashes!

- Side note: that was the world's shortest labor. Like 5 minutes. That's crazy fast (and correct me if I'm wrong, but labor is usually MUCH longer than that)

- I guess Ben gets to stay on the Island. Lucky him

- Hey, it's both islands! Both the main island and the island w/ the plane

-----Break #8

- I think Jack would have the advantage in a fight like this because he's used to fighting as a human and anti-Jacob isn't

- WAY TO GO KATE!!!

- Ok, so anti-Jacob is dead, but now what?

- WHEN is Jack going to flash? Did Jack start to see it but choose not to keep looking?

-----Break #9

-LAME! I just lost all my thoughts for this last section! I didn't get it to post right!

- Ok, let me try to re-create...

- Basically I'm glad that Kate appears to have picked Jack over Sawyer. And my evidence for this is that she told Jack "I love you" which she's never told anyone that I can remember (though Jack told her before)

- Also, I'm thinking that we aren't really going to get any more answers than we have right now, just conclusions. I think this episode is just going to wrap up this whole story, not give answers.

-----Break #10

- Juliet. That makes sense that Juliet would give Sawyer his flash. And will she get her flash here too?

- Beautiful. That's the best way to describe what LOST is doing right now. The way they brought Sawyer & Juliet back to their memories was perfect.

-----Break #11

- Jack must have to see Kate to really get his flash. Ha! There she is, I must be right

- Jack IS avoiding the flashes. Why does he want to avoid it so much?

- How come SHE understands? What is it that they are understanding based on their flashes?

- This's gotta be a totally disappointing and awkward conversation to be listening to for Ben since he probably wants to have this honor himself, to protect the island

- I'm not sure if I can believe that that's ACTUALLY Jack passing on the protector-ship to Hurley. He didn't say any words or anything. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, I'm just not sure.

- Wow, that was a really lame pep-talk by Claire, yet she bought it!

- OH MY GOSH! I didn't even see it! It's the cork! The piece that Desmond moved and Jack just moved back is the cork! Maybe what's "below" is supposed to be hell, evil.

-----Break #12

- So true, forgiveness DOES matter, and it matters alot

- Spoken well, Ben, spoken well. Hurley DOES take care of people.

- And Hurley asking Ben to help him is exactly what Ben needs. :)

- Oh look, Jack's NOT dead. Doesn't look like he's doing so good, but he's not dead.

- Uh, totally confused w/ Christian being alive! Huh? What does Jack mean "I died too?" When? We haven't seen him die yet

- The flash sideways is "heaven" (in whatever version these writers conceive of it)

- I don't know how I feel about the whole "heaven" thing, but I'm ok w/ it just being the flash sideways, not reality, and I'm not super bothered by it, but I don't like things that deal w/ the after life when they're not accurate.

But overall, I LOVED the episode. It was a beautiful tribute to the show. It didn't answer many questions, but it did bring closure. I feel good about it being over. I don't feel like there are hugely hanging questions or things that I don't have the answer to, which is really nice. I'm still going to have to process. but overall I feel like it was a fulfilling ending to an AMAZING show.

Thanks for reading and putting up with my rantings, ravings, and hypothesis. It's been a fun run. : )

R. I wonder if this well is at all tied to the wells that we saw last week...

- There was Ben's connection to "reality"

- Oh! I'm excited to see the connection to the secret room. That's where Ben went to summon the smoke monster

- I wonder why Ben thinks that the smoke monster summoned him

----- Break #2

- I still think that Jack is currently set up to be Jacob's replacement, but it's interesting to think it might be Widmore

- Desmond is busy in this episode! I wonder how he thinks he's going to get to Sawyer from in prison. -- Oh, nevermind, he's after Sayid and Kate!

- Why is Jacob showing up to Hurley as young Jacob?

- Wait, what? Why would Jacob want his ashes to actually burn up so that he wouldn't be seen again? Could it maybe be anti-Jacob taking the form of Jacob? No, probably not because Kate didn't see him.

----- Break #3

- So much for Richard. Not convinced he's actually dead yet, but possibly

- Right, once he leaves the island there won't be any island for Ben to be in charge of

- And clearly Ben's still angry/mad at anti-Jacob

- Rousseau!! Yea, it's great to see her again!

- Whatever his word is worth. Don't trust him Widmore!

- Yup, Ben's still angry. And oh, it's clearly over Alex's death

- Ok, so much for Ben being redeemed. Bummer.

- Wait, Jacob can be seen by all these guys?! This must be related to the ashes somehow

- But I thought that Kate's name was crossed off. Did Jacob change his mind? Maybe Jacob can actually choose whoever he wants. But it seems like there are rules with who can be the replacement, like when Jacob was "picked" instead of anti-Jacob

-----Break #4

- There's Locke! "maybe all this is happening for a reason" I've missed this real Locke!!

- Answers? Are we really getting answers?

- Ha, the names are arbitrary

- Ok, so now Jack and Jacob go thru the ceremony? This is assuming that Jack actually gets to be the "picked" one. I knew he was getting himself psyched up for being "the one" but we'll see if it still works out that way. Even though things are coming together now, it's still LOST and I don't trust it yet.

-----Break #5

- Hmm, looks like I'm wrong about the temple being built over the source of the light. Oh well. I like my idea better. :)

- Ok then, Jack is the new replacement. My principal will be happy.

- Ana-Lucia is a crooked cop? That's too bad

- Ok, now I'm officially interested in the flash-sideways. : )

- Destroy the island, huh? I think that's what Desmond was going to do already, I think that's the fail safe, so how on earth does that work to anti-Jacob's advantage?

And think about it. Destroying the island would be a way to get it on the bottom of the ocean so that the "real" timeline syncs up with the sideways timeline.

I guess I'm not disappointed or upset, which is a good thing. I'm just ready for the last episode. I'm more hopeful now than I was before this episode started. They seem to have a very clear direction and I think they just might be able to wrap this up satisfactorily. Of course, it's still just as likely for that NOT to happen. Let's hope it ends well. See you Sunday!

R. She's pregnant w/ someone we probably know...there must be

- The one lady is speaking spanish it seems, but the lady from the island seems to be speaking something more like latin? Maybe I'm crazy...

- Is this lady who's on the island the anti-Jacob? And maybe the spanish lady is giving birth to Jacob?

- Ummm, maybe this is nit-picking, but if she's already given birth, why is she still bulging...oh, it's twins!! The anti-Jacob!

- Ha, it's light at dark, black and white from the beginning!

- She only picked one name, so maybe the anti-Jacob doesn't have a name at all.

- Umm, latin lady is uber cruel!

----Break #1

- Maybe this whole episode is going to be about Jacob and anti-Jacob! That would be awesome!

- What do you bet this is the "inside joke" with the balance that anti-Jacob threw away in that cave w/ Sawyer earlier

- Jacob's "mom" is weaving just like Jacob does when we first met him!

- How long ago is this?!

- Who is this lady? --- WOAH! What's that golden water thing?!

- So this is "the point" of the island? This "light"? And anti-Jacob is going to want to put out the light?

- Ok, so here's my current hypothesis: Jacob isn't going to want to be the one to protect the light, but the anti-Jacob is, but for some reason he won't be able to, which will be the crux of the conflict and why anti-Jacob hates Jacob so much, and probably why he's going to want to do the opposite of what Jacob has to do: protect the light

----- Break #2

- But anti-Jacob doesn't know what "dead" means, so the statement "Because I'm dead" doesn't mean anything to him

- Interesting twist, anti-Jacob is right! He actually knows the truth and Jacob doesn't (at least not yet)

- Ha, way to call "mom" on having a favorite Jacob!

----- Break #3

- So did the find the wheel below the ground w/ that well? Or was the wheel built? (the wheel that Ben used to move the island & leave it)

- Yup, the wheel's leaning up on the wall behind him!

- So the light is the source of the electromagnatism?

- Is she going to try to kill him? Yup. Called it.

----- Break #4

- She's a manipulative liar! She's evil (even if she's doing it for 'good' reasons)

- Oh great, now I want to know why he can't go down there and what's worse than dying for them?

- This ritual that they are going thru to pass on the protection responsibility, it's going to have to happen to Jacob's replacement as well. But how, since he's dead? Maybe thru Hurley?

- What does that mean? "You and I are the same"?

- Ok, so who did this? Jacob? The people themselves? "mom"?

- Hey wait! The line that "mom" said early on, something like 'it always ends the same' referring to the people with death and greed etc, that's the same line that ANTI-JACOB says to Jacob, but JACOB holds out that it's not over yet. So in some way he's NOT fulfilling what "mom" thinks

-----Break #5

- Jacob CREATED the smoke monster. Wow, he's a pretty big screw up! What did it do to the light, I wonder?

- Adam & Eve. the original anti-Jacob and "mom"

- OH! And what do you bet the Temple was built on top of that spring where the light came from? And that's the source of the spring where they took Ben & Sayid. And THAT'S why there's a "darkness" that consumes someone when they are in the water, and that's probably how it brings people back to life. Something along those lines.

SUCH a good episode! No, it doesn't answer all the questions, but it definitely gives a context to things and answers alot!

R. Does it relate to time travel stuff at all? Or maybe there's a compass to get the barrings to get off the island correctly

- Nope, Sawyer's not wrong about anti-Jacob; and I'm not convinced this is exactly they way anti-Jacob describes the situation w/ the plane

- Ok, good, Sawyer doesn't trust him.

- I wonder what the water has to do with Sawyer's plan to take care of anti-Jacob

-----Break #3

- Ha! He's had his flash! It's about time!

- Christian wanted Claire to have it because the song that it's playing is from her childhood! We saw that in the "real timeline" when Claire was sitting down in the bottom of the pit in the temple (at least I think that's right)

- Kate! And crazy how sure Jack is that he's not going to get hurt at all. So bold and not hiding from the gunfire

- I wonder if anti-Jacob can't change into the smoke when he's wet

- Nope, there's c4 in the pack

- See, that was too easy

-----Break #4

- Wow, Sayid! Totally didn't anticipate that he'd give himself up! But I did figure that Desmond wasn't actually dead. Way to go Sayid! That's really him redeeming himself.

- And I figured that Jack's idea of the bomb thinking was right. It totally fits with "the rules" and everything we've been learning this season

- Ok, I know this isn't what you'd think at the time, but actually the more water there is, the easier it would be to move the bookcase or whatever that's pinning Sun

- Hmmm, if Sun dies, Jack will blame himself for not staying and letter her die, won't he?

- : (

-----Break #5

- I had a friend say that no one on LOST actually dies unless we see them die. And I think this counts for Sun & Jin, since we saw them under water. :(

- But I guess that tells us that it doesn't matter if the "Kwon" on Jacob's cave wall was Sun or Jin, they're both out of the running now

- There's the theme again: "What happened, happened"

- Oh gosh, I was doing ok until Hurley lost it!

- He is SOOOOO bad! He must be able to know about the candidates; that's how he knew that they weren't all dead. He must be able to feel something about how they are keeping him on the island.

And I must say, I'm really interested in the next week's episode based on the preview. While it does have clips of previous episodes (all the way back to the pilot), it seems to have new scenes with Jacob! I'm hoping for more history/backstory on anti-Jacob, and maybe a few more answers to the "rules"

R. Did anti-Jacob tell her?

- What is it about "talking to" the anti-Jacob that makes it the end of the argument? And btw, I don't fully buy that it really is beyond their choice (interesting, it's the free will vs destiny/fate debate again)

-----Break #1

-YES! STAR WARS REFERENCE! Yet another reason why this show is so great.

- I don't like anti-Jacob; his fake smile, with the evil lying just beneath the surface

- Huh, interesting point that Sawyer, a COP, didn't say anything about seeing Kate in handcuffs

- And the connections in the sideways continue...Kate & Sawyer, Sun & Locke, and now Sayid

- Funny how she gives anti-Jacob the same ultimatum he gave to everyone on the temple: until nightfall (sundown)

- Hmm, I'll bet anti-Jacob things she's bluffing

-----Break #2

- Oooo, interesting how we have a connection with Ilana. I didn't really expect to see that type of a connection. And did Desmond know this connection somehow? Is this how Claire's going to have her flash of the real world?

- Ok, so this is Sawyer trying to take care of Kate...and now he's trying to help Jack and the others; He is yet again showing how much he's changed

- Ok, but Desmond's already dead, so Sayid can't kill him...I wonder if anti-Jacob is going to use that as an excuse to attack the Widmore camp. Maybe he'll claim that they took back Desmond on their own, maybe even that they stole something or kidnapped him or something like that to rally the troops against Widmore

-----Break #3

- Oh, that's surprising. I guess I assumed he fell farther than that.

- Kate, who has lied for what seems like her whole life, is now worried about breaking a promise to/about Claire. Interesting switch

- So revealing. "He's the only one who didn't abandon me" which is Claire talking about anti-Jacob. It's a similar idea to what Ben expressed about going to be with anti-Jacob. It's totally true, that often people pick someone or a group to belong to because they are who accepts them, no other good reason

- Is it possible that Claire's crazy can be broken?

-----Break #4

- Oh, I'm stupid, that's the connection between Iliana and Claire

- Good point, Jack. I never thought about not really wanting to get off the island because anti-Jacob DOES want them to get off.

- In some ways, this is a role reversal between Jack and Sawyer here, where Sawyer's in charge, and Jack jumps out (of the boat vs the helicopter) and stays on the island. Quite interesting

-----Beak #5

- Is Jack going to be working on Locke?

- HA! I'm right!

- That's some swim Jack just did

- Uh oh, and anti-Jacob's there to meet him. That can't be a good thing

- SUN & JIN!!!!!!!!!

- Sun & Jin's story is such a great story of redemption and restoration

- I'm convinced anti-Jacob is saving Jack for purely selfish reasons. No question.

And no, Jack is NOT with anti-Jacob, he just happens to physically be there at the moment. But he doesn't trust anti-Jacob any more than he has in the past. That's clear from Jack's discussion with Sawyer on the boat before he jumped off.

R. I'm so right. It's totally a transportation device! -- Except, that I think Michael's supposed to be dead since he was in the freighter right by the bomb. Hmm...

----- Break #1

- Libby!!!!

- aaand she's still in the mental hospital. But Hurley isn't? Or maybe we just don't know it yet

- Oh! That was unexpected. Definitely didn't expect her to blow up!

- Hey, did you notice that Kate called Sawyer Sawyer and not James? She hasn't done it in a while

- Interesting development for Sayid to have abducted Desmond. Yet Desmond doesn't seem that worried. I wonder if he feels like he knows what's going to happen/needs to do

----- Break #2

- Why the change Hurley? Is he planning a bait and switch or something?

- I'm really facinated by the whole Desmond angle. It really makes the flash sideways much more interesting! And of course, number 42. : )

- Does Desmond really still think anti-Jacob is Locke?

- Oh Hurley! That's awesome! Way to blow up ALL the dynamite. : )

----- Break #3

- So the real question now is, are they actually going to be able to go on the date, or, because the realities are connected, will they be thwarted

- Ok, but if they go to talk to "Locke," then he'll have all the Oceanic 6 together and he'll be able to get off the island

- So is Hurley bluffing? I think he is. I'm also not convinced that Michael is reliable as a dead guy. Because there was the whispers, it makes me wonder if it was actually from anti-Jacob somehow. I have no idea how, but maybe? Its just doubtful to me

----- Break #4

- Whispers!! Do we get to find out what they are?!?!

- Hmmm, I'm not sure that fits. Dead people who are stuck on the island who can't move on. I guess it fits that then people appear. But Walt isn't dead and he appeared after the whispers, so that doesn't fit!

- Ok, they DO get their date

- !! Hurley got the flashes! So we're going to need to get all the LOSTies to get the flashes. What happens once they do?

- Nice job Desmond, nice job.

----- Break #5

- Is this the same well that the real Locke went down right before he got off the island? It was a very different looking area previously

- anti-Locke is a meany-pants

- I wonder if Desmond is actually dead. And can he be dead in one reality but not the other? 'Cause he's already on his mission in the flash sideways

- oop I guess that answers that questions. : )

- ooooo, so then Locke had the flash, I think we're supposed to assume

And can I just say, I really DON'T like anti-Locke? Is this the first time Jack has seen anti-Jacob as "alive Locke"? Does Jack know that anti-Jacob isn't actually Locke? I can't remember anymore!

R. Something about this doesn't quite make sense. I must be missing something.

- But does that mean we're going to see Charlie this episode?!

- Now that's a flip; in the flash sideways he actually gets to drink it, as opposed to never being good enough to drink it in the "real world"

- YES IT'S CHARLIE!

- Mmmm, Charlie is talking about Claire, even if he doesn't know it here in this flash sideways

- Charlie's trying to drown, just like in the original timeline. And Desmond's with him same as the original timeline as well. There are some really good, strong parallels in this episode...like that hand thing

----- Break #3

- Oh, I get it. Desmond is the link between the 2 different realities: the "it worked" and "it didn't work" realities that we've seen; Desmond is the link between these, just like he's been the link between different times

- While this flash sideways is probably the most interesting of them so far, I'd still rather know what's going on with the "real" timeline. I hope this episode doesn't stay in the flash sideways the whole time!

----- Break #4

- We knew this, right? Somehow I think I knew that what's her name - Eloise - was Widmore's wife.

- Even in the flash sideways, Eloise knows what's going on at a deeper level than anyone else we've seen

- And the guy at the piano, he's the son, and it's Faraday, of course. He's the one who wants to play with Driveshaft

- Ok, but, how is he Daniel WIDMORE, instead of Faraday? Oh, right, because Eloise Hawking, is now married to Widmore, so Farady, sorry, Daniel, must have changed his name when his mom, Eloise, married Widmore

----- Break #5

- At the stadium! It's all going back to the stadium!

- I wonder if Desmond getting taken by Sayid is actually part of Widmore's plan...

Ok, now I feel like we're moving in a direction, moving towards the end. Desmond in the flash sideways is going to try to get everyone from the flight to recognize that it's different. I don't know what happens when they do, but I think something significant will happen. I like this, partially because it's a direction, but also because it tends towards my thought that the flash sideways isn't the "real" way it happened. which I prefer. :)

R. It's supposed to be all about Richard Alpert, according to the actor who plays him. Also, according to that actor, it's a really good episode. I'm really hopeful and looking forward to getting some really interesting info tonight!

- YES! WE WANT TO KNOW THE SECRET!

- NO! They are not in hell, that's stupid. I don't actually think that Richard is right. I think he's just mad and disappointed and running to the anti-Jacob for answers. Nope, I don't believe it

-----Break #1

- Who's Hurley talking to in spanish? Any family member?

- Lapidas, funny joke: "How in hell do you think that happened" referring to Richard not aging...right after he said that they were all dead and in hell. Funny joke!

- Ok, so since Richard is hispanic, perhaps Hurley was talking to someone related to him...could be either

- Great theology guys. You know it's not grace if you can do something to get rid of it. Then it's earned. Cummon!

-----Break #2

- Whitfield, hmmm, I wonder if he's at all related to Widmore?

- HANSO! He's the family that's connected to the Island from long time ago, back w/ the auction that Widmore goes to, and Edgar Hallowax mentions his name in one of the orientation videos

- HE'S ON THE BLACK ROCK!

- And that's how the black rock made it into the jungle; a title wave of some kind

- I wonder if the captain guy is infected...or maybe just selfish

- What's with the white flashes, and why does the anti-Jacob/smoke monster leave Richard alive? Is it part of his big, long-range plan for the "now" to have Richard run to him instead of fulfilling Jacob's original plans?

- Oh, and, officially, this is the best episode of the season so far, and we're only half thru!

-----Break #3

- Gross! Bohr eating dead person!

- Ok, I'm confused w/ his wife. How could she have been there? It can't be hell, since our Oceanic 6 could get off the island. I think that the flashes are how the smoke monster reads people's thoughts and can know everything about them, including who to become to properly manipulate them

- The return of the anti-Jacob (original)! I still think that somehow the anti-Jacob became Isabelle or somehow manipulated Richard thru her to convince him to help him get off the island. As well as having the keys "found" on an officer outside, when it's more likely he took them when he killed them. The one piece I can't put together is how the anti-Jacob could be Isabella and the smoke monster at the same time...I'm still missing something

-----Break #4

- What the anti-Jacob is telling Richard about killing him before he speaks is the same thing the Temple Master told Sayid about killing anti-Jacob (Locke)

- We've not seen angry Jacob before!

- This is a great episode!

-----Break #5

- So that's why Richard never ages

- The philosophy espoused by Jacob here is very interesting. The island is "the cork" keeping the evil at bay. But it's the island, not Jacob. Also, anti-Jacob believes everyone is innately evil, which is true, while Jacob believes that's not true and is trying to prove him wrong (but apparently can't, since everyone's died). This also harkens back to the end of season 5 when we first met Jacob & anti-Jacob and Jacob told anti-Jacob that it's not over yet...something like it's not over till it's over.

- That's who Hurley was talking to in the beginning of the episode!

- Sooner than you think? Why did anti-Jacob say that? When does he see him "sooner?"

LAME! So blogger just lost the last 2 paragraphs I was writing. So the jist of it was: this episode was good, I'm hoping for other good ones. Also, I'll be gone next week in San Fransisco on a mission trip, so you'll have to wait until the weekend to hear my thoughts (and I'll have to wait to see it until I get back too!).

R. That's an interesting parallel!

----- 1st Break

- squirrel baby is CREAPY!

- Nice how anti-Jacob tells everyone that "the black smoke" killed everyone and leaves out the part where HE'S the black smoke!

- Ha! Sideways Sawyer is looking for the guy who killed his parents! "Anthony Cooper"

- Hmm, so why does anti-Jacob actually tell Sawyer the truth about being the black smoke?

- And how is it that Sawyer doesn't notice that anti-Jacob is lying to him about the plane as the way to get off of the island?

-----Break #2

- Ooooo, they brought Charlotte back! Very interesting

- Wow, that's some first date! Do we think we can trust her?

- I'm sorry, but I think it's Charlotte's fault for looking thru Sawyer's stuff

- I really don't understand the anti-Locke; why is he protecting Kate? Does he still want/need her for something? HE'S the one who told Claire that the other's took Aaron in the first place.

- I wonder if the anti-Jacob can't get off the first island and can't even go to the hydra island...

- I also wonder if the dead pile of people on the Hydra island are dead because they got "sick" too

-----Break #3

- Hey! That's Charlie's brother! They included Charlie w/o actually including him. :)

- I know what he was doing in Australia! He was looking for the guy who killed his parents!

- I don't believe this chick w/the glasses. I think SHE killed everyone, just like Ruseau did

- Nice, Sawyer, nice. Way to figure her out! :)

-----Break #4

- Anti-Jacob knows that he doesn't have Kate's trust yet, and he's willing to take the time to 'win her over' so he can use her to his advantage

- They're putting up a fence again - and it's Widmore!

- Is Sawyer telling the truth? Probably: he sure seems to be very specific on the conditions of their agreement, so I think he sees Widmore as a better, more reliable way off the island for him and the people he cares about

-----Break #5

- So much for Sawyer holding up his end of the deal. I have to think that Sawyer has a bigger plan than just following anti-Jacob, he must have a bigger con in the works

- If a "deal's a deal" then what about the deal he made w/ Widmore?

- Who's in the car...who's running from the cops?

- Kate! Interesting...I wonder what they're interactions will be like in the alternate/parallel reality...

- HA, I told you he had a plan, making a solution for himself and Kate (and probably others as well)

This episode was alright. It wasn't as enjoyable as last week, but I enjoyed it and I do feel like there's a direction. I'm also REALLY looking forward to next week, since it's supposed to be all about Richard Alpert! From what I've heard, it's a really good episode! Can't wait.

R. I guess I keep hoping it will start to get back to what it should be

- Second, even though I don't really have alot to go on w/ this, I think that ultimately, Sawyer will be the replacement for Jacob. I was talking to someone about it today and she's hoping it'll be Jack because she wants Kate & Sawyer to get together, but I still think Sawyer's more likely: he's the most dynamic character in the whole show, shows care for others/selflessness, loves and cares deeply, and doesn't have any ties to life off the island. I could totally be wrong, but that's what I think for now...

- Ok, so Arnzt ('dude, you've got Arntz on you) the science teacher should know that we don't use formaldehyde anymore since it's TOXIC!!

- I should probably feel bad for Ben, but I don't, since all this is really his own fault! He's going to get what he deserves.

- Interesting, however, that Ben isn't able to lie or manipulate his way out of this one; he only denies it. He must be totally out of his element and off balance here!

----- Commercial Break #1

- Huh, I guess that makes sense that Ben's dad is still alive since they were never on the island. But why on earth would Ben choose to live with his dad, I wonder?

- HOLD ON: they were on the island, which means that somehow they got off before the explosion, or at least before it sank, however that happened.

- Umm, as a teacher, it's CREEPY that Alex, Ben's student, came to him AT HOME!

- The Chosen! I saw that book in Sawyer's tent that Ben's going over. Besides the obvious reference to Jacob's replacement, I read that book sophomore year of high school. I liked it so much I read the sequel on my own.

----- Commercial Break #2

- Umm, I'm sorry, but a teacher can't make that type of promise. If there's something inappropriate going on, especially in relation to students, we are LEAGALLY OBLIGATED to NOT keep it a secret

- Apparently Richard doesn't trust Jacob anymore. The anti-Jacob has successfully inserted doubt into his mind. I wonder if he's going to be able to kill himself.

----- Commercial #3

- For an "outdated" lab, that science lab sure looks modern to me...just saying

- And...it doesn't work this way! You can't just become a principal. You have to be certified and a whole bunch of other things. <sigh></sigh>

- Woah, did Richard arrive at the island on the Black Rock? Maybe he was a prisoner?

- So apparently Richard has some of the same rules that Jacob & anti-Jacob have; he can't die/kill himself, but someone else can kill him

----- Commercial Break #4

- Wow, now Jack's the one w/ the faith! Look at that!

- Where's "where we started?"

- I'm not convinced that the anti-Jacob is really going to come thru on all his promises, yet he is persuasive, isn't he?

- Ok, Ben, if you're a thinking guy, you back off now, but then after he writes the recommendation, then force the issue and get his job (I guess I'm not that nice a guy either, huh?)

- Brutal honesty from Ben: the only thing that mattered to him, his power. That's the truest thing he's ever said

- "Because he's the only one who'll have me" is an idea that is so often used against Christians...and unfortunately it's true.

----- Commercial #5

- I do have to say, I'm really thankful that I don't work for an administer as horrible as the one portrayed here! I really have a good principal.

- Way to go Ben! He's actually making a good decision for the first time in his life! It doesn't make up for everything that he's done, but it's nice to see him try to change (We'll see how long it lasts)

- Widmore! I called it! (just now, you didn't hear it because you weren't here sitting with me...since I"m watching this all by myself)

Alright, so I would call this "the episode of hope" for several reasons. First off, because we're seeing hope. Hope for Ben, hope for change, hope for Richard, hope for Jack. It just has hope. And second, this episode is the first one this season that gives me hope that maybe the season isn't totally ruined. I actually enjoyed this. I felt like there were a few more interesting developments, both with Ben and with Richard. No, we didn't get many answers, but I did feel like we made progress; things changed in a direction, even though I don't know yet what that direction is.

I'm not disappointed by this episode. I'm not totally stoked either, but at least I'm not disappointed. It's progress. :)

R. Sounds like a works-based philosophy. Is that Buddism? I'm not up on my eastern religions

- Woah, the temple master has some moves!

- Umm, confused. What's the significance of the baseball? Why does temple master care so much about it and why does it's falling on the ground stop him from killing Sayid?

------ First Commercial Break

- Is the flash sideways supposed to show us the "good vs bad" in Sayid? Otherwise, I don't much care, to be honest. Still not that interested in the flash sideways' stories.

- How is killing someone a demonstration of good? I'm sorry, but that's messed up morality right there.

------- Second Commercial Break

- LOL Miles totally called it: "Sawyer sent you packing, huh?" Love it

- Hah, like how all the animals stop making any noise when the anti-Jacob is on his way/near?

- Umm, so stabbing the anti-Jacob doesn't seem to be helpful at all. And why on Earth would the temple master ask Sayid to do it when I'm SURE he knew it wouldn't work? This is just frustrating...

-------- Third Commercial Break

- Nice, Sayid, noticing that anti-Jacob is just as manipulative as the temple master

-------- Fourth Commercial Break

- Kimi. That's not a good sign at all. And I think I've seen the other foreign guy before. Maybe he was the restaurant owner w/ the lady who he tortured in prison w/ the cat.

- I have to admit, it's nice to see Kimi not so arrogant and bossy and in control.

- JIN! So is the guy that Sayid's brother borrowed money from Mr. Paik?

--------- Fifth Commercial Break

- Ok, so somehow the temple master could also keep the anti-Jacob out. I'll be honest, I'm really curious what all these "rules" are that allow for keeping the anti-Jacob at bay.

- I'm confused. Why hasn't Claire let Kate get killed or killed her herself? I thought she was super angry that Kate took Aaron?

In case you're wondering, I'm still disappointed. This episode has kept with the same theme of "no useful information, just more questions." Yes, there are some things that are happening, but nothing that really helps or carries things forward. I feel like right now the show is really stagnant with us, the audience, having about the same amount of information since the beginning of the season. I'm losing interest and am actually getting annoyed with the lack of progress in the show right now.

Yes, I know this is LOST and we're not supposed to get answers and all, but they really made me think we'd actually get them last season, because they DID actually give answers! Now we have the whole Jacob vs anti-Jacob thing that was just introduced and the end of last season, and I get that they need to develop that a bit, but can't they do that while proving us answers? Or at least giving us some idea where we're headed and going? I have no idea what's happening and feel aimless, which doesn't give me much of a driving desire to see the next episode.

I mean, take the ending of this episode. Ok, so anti-Jacob killed a bunch of people. Jacob's dead. Yes, there's a band of people who escaped, but they are minor characters and I don't really care what happens to them; there's nothing driving about them. Sun's the only one of interest, but the only thing interesting about her is Jin, and they're separated, so no connection there. And Kate's w/ the anti-Jacob group, probably not because she really wants to be there, but so what? She's going to look out for herself as always, so I don't expect much there either.

All that to say, I'm not happy with this season. So there you go, my thoughts.

R. Before it begins, here's a thought I had this week:
With Desmond & Penny...if in the flash sideways the island is sunk, its possible that Charles Widmore either died on the island or wasn't ever even on the island, which would change his relation to Penny, changing her relation to Desmond, possible preventing the two of them from ever meeting! My original thought was that Desmond never got shipwrecked on the island, but then I realized that he might not have gone on the boat race to prove his worthy-ness to Penny's dad in the first place, and back I went, realizing how very different the whole situation could be. I really have no idea, I'm just wondering.

Ok, now to tonight's episode:

- Jack has a son in the parallel reality? David? I wonder why. Quite interesting.

- "Everything is an option, but I'd have to stop you" I think that's the free will/desitny theme again, summed up well

- Oooo, tic tac toe, "tie again" probably a symbol/representation of the good versus evil struggle between Jacob and anti-Jacob

- I don't really understand how Jacob can be dead and yet not really be dead and can talk w/ Hurley

--- Commercial break #1

- I'll be honest, I don't see Jack as a father-figure

- YEA Star Was reference! Another reason I love this show! :)

--- Commercial break #2

- And I don't really have anything useful to say here...other than I'm kinda' bored, which is a real let-down. What's the deal LOST? This is the final season and it's supposed to be super exciting and we're supposed to know what's going on, not getting bored.

--- Commercial break #3

- I feel like the part of the jungle Hurley & Jack are walking thru right now is a part we haven't really seen before. The plants look different, and the trees...they're not the same color. Yes, I'm probably crazy. That's ok, I'm used to it

- Hmm, so is Claire now going to try to kill Kate because she thinks she kidnapped Aaron? Not looking good for Kate, especially considering that she still just killed the Other guy

---- Commercial break #4

- 108, isn't that one of the numbers

- What's w/ those names...and the reflections in the mirrors?! That's crazy!! So the numbers correspond to degrees. Measured from what, I wonder? What's zero?

- Smashing the mirrors...that can't be good. Unless Jacob is really even more of a master-mind than I think and the reason he wanted Jack to go up there so that he WOULD smash the mirrors...I don't think that's it, but I'm not sure

--- Commercial break #5

- Well, I guess i was wrong. Jacob DID want Jack to smash the mirrors (or at least to see what was in them). He IS as big of a mastermind as I wasn't sure he was. So why don't I hate him like I hate Ben for being a manipulator?

My overall feeling about this episode is that it has some interesting parts, especially in the last quarter, but most of it wasn't that interesting, and all in all, I'm not super excited about this season. It's really going to need to take a turn to finish out the show well. I'm starting to get...concerned. Not worried yet, there's still time for things to turn around, but there is definite concern.

- So right now we're supposed to think that Claire is the "bad person"...or maybe the anti-jacob

R. John may still be in a wheel chair, but he's w/ his old gf now! I wonder what happened differently...

- And why on earth would John want his dad to be at the wedding like Helen suggested? Maybe his dad didn't steal his kidney and he broke his back for some other reason?

- OOOOOO! We're seeing things from the smoke monster's perspective! Super cool!

- Anti-Jacob is doing the same thing Satan did in the garden: planting doubt in Richard's mind about Jacob & his intentions, lying/concealing things from him.

- Hmmm, interesting that the anti-Jacob saw the weird kid...even he can see things on the island. That implies that he's not in control of what happens on the island.

- I wonder if the kid is little Jacob, young Jacob. Nope, I guess not, since the kid says "him" yet interesting about the rules and also the same line "don't tell me what I can't do" coming from the anti-Jacob instead of Locke, even though Locke said that all the time. Maybe that's one of the reasons that the anti-Jacob picked Locke

- Hmmm, I wonder of they'd actually kill Sawyer. SOOO many fans will be outrageous if that actually happens

- ROSE! I love Rose and I love seeing many of these new connections. It is reminiscent of season 1 when we saw all these connections of our characters

- Wow, this anti-Jacob is as good if not better of a manipulator as Ben!

- Oh! Now that's interesting, the anti-Jacob can't change his appearance anymore and he's 'stuck this way'. I wonder if that's part of the "rules"

- How weird is this, that Ben is speaking over Locke, the guy he killed. --- HAHA Lapidis totally agrees w/ me. :)

- Ok, so was Sawyer's fall all orchestrated by the anti-Jacob to make Sawyer trust him, I wonder?

- The names on the rock doesn't explain anything! Its just a list of names, just like the list that Ben got from Jacob. Not an explanation at all

- Ben as a teacher?! BOOOO!

- Ok, so the numbers next to the names are "the numbers"

- Candidate to take over for Jacob, huh? To protect the island from the anti-Jacob, of course!

- Interesting point brought up by my sister and friend: Kate's name wasn't on the rock. I wonder what that means. Jacob did come to her, we saw it at the end of last season. Does that mean she's the one? Or maybe that Jacob had something else in mind for her? Or someplace else where he actually did stuff?

- And now Sawyer's apparently joined the anti-Jacob. I wonder what that means and what that's going to lead to. LOST is always about "sides", typified by the light/dark motif (the "inside joke"), and once again we have sides being picked, w/ Sawyer moving to the dark side, at least for now.

This episode was more interesting than the last one, I think, though I still wish we were getting more answers than we're getting. And, as I predicted today at work, we didn't see a thing about Claire; we'll have to wait until some other episode, maybe next week, maybe longer. Ah well. At least this one felt like it was advancing the story I'm already locked into as opposed to developing a new line (the temple stuff).

R. I mean, we saw Ben encounter the smoke monster underneath the temple when he saw "Alex", and when Jin first runs in to the temple its because the guy from the French research team gets pulled under thru the tunnel that our heroes enter using. I don't quite get it, unless the anti-Jacob hangs out under the temple, but can't get inside...

Now, on to the new episode!

-Hmm, Sawyer telling Kate not to come after him is remenicent of when Jack told Kate to leave in Season 3 and told her not to come back for him. She didn't listen then, why should we think she'll listen this time?

- I think I know what the test they put Sayid thru was: they wanted to see if he was inhabited by the smoke monster. Oh gosh, but he didn't pass...I wonder why. Maybe he is inhabited by Jacob somehow? We know it's not the anti-Jacob since he was still Locke. (I think).

Oh, and the other reason I think they tortured Sayid is because he was a torturer, though I don't think that's actually their intention, just the "poetic justice" type of thing w/ the story.

- I don't know if I believe the Temple Master (as I'm calling the asian guy) about Sayid being infected or not. I don't think he's the smoke monster, but I could be wrong. Now that I know they are Jacob's followers, I'm inclined to believe and trust them, but there's still a twinge of doubt in the back of my mind...

- Oh yeah, and w/ Kate and Jin in the jungle, w/ the Others w/ them, the Others made some mention of Ruseau being dead for years...was she ever the smoke monster?

-Ok, so if there's poison in the pill, that probably means that they think Sayid is the anti-Jacob. I'm still not sure myself it his is, but it seems to be what the Others think

-NO!! That's what happened to Claire! Jack doesn't know that Claire's his sister...well, I guess he'll know now.

- And Claire's back, but now we know that she's taken by the anti-Jacob somehow...not good. So when did she die? And can the anti-Jacob be more than one person at a time? He'd have to be able to to be Locke and Sayid and Claire all at once...I have no idea how that works

In conclusion, it seems we're now into the mythology of season 6; each season has its own set of ideas and concepts that are introduced, and this season's are the Jacob/anti-Jacob thing. We're not really getting any new answers or parts of the story during this episode, but it was interesting none the less. Though personally, I was much less interested in the "flash sideways" with Claire and Kate, I really want to know what's happening on the island itself! Oh well, until next week!

R. To be honnest, I'm kinda' disappointed. In that case, I'm expecting this season to be all about how the universe "course corrects" whatever that happens to look like.

WAIT?! Desmond is on the plane?! How can that be? EVERYTHING in the timeline has changed?! For real? That's totally unexpected!

The island is under water?! And I swear that was the DHARMA shark I saw under the water. Didn't you see the DHARMA logo on the tail?

Ok, so if the island is under water and sank, what does that mean? So now what? No Ben, Desmond never crashed there. But what about Jacob? Is he alive or dead? Does he have any effect anymore? Is there anything that can be done to "undo" the change that was done? What about the 'course corrections"?

There must some some enduring effects, like the cut on Jack's neck...

I'm CONFUSED! Was Jack's thing a dream?! I'm feeling much better now than I did at the start. :)

Ok, back to confused again. :) So is this like parallel dimensions or something? Two possible futures? Are we going to see them merge at some point? This is a much more interesting episode now that it's confusing again.

Sawyer could be thinking about conning Hurley...yet Hurley is lucky in the alternate universe.

So Jacob is "gone" which fits w/ my wondering if he's actually dead or not.

The Temple!! I'm super excited to see more about the Temple!

THAT WAS SO SHORT! THAT'S SO STUPID!! But I knew it was Charlie, though. :)

Jack saving Charlie's life is a mirror/parallel to when he saved him early on when he chased after Ethan when he was trying to take Claire.

The Smoke Monster! I KNEW it was the anti-Jacob guy! And now we know what the ash is for! it was around the cabin to protect Jacob from the smoke monster/anti-Jacob.

Wow, they really are getting everyone back for this episode; the voice of the pilot is the voice of the same guy who was the pilot in the "pilot" episode. Haha

Sad day for Locke, in the "alternate" future/past where they don't crash he still can't walk. :(

And my mom brings up a good point: we haven't seen Michael, Walt, or Claire...where are they?

I love Hurley "Well, this is gunna' be awesome"

Ok, we're hearing the whispers again...are we going to find out for sure what they are now?!

Huh, I guess it's an actual temple, then. They looked like they were dressed like monks too, like an actual religious organization of some kind. I'm really curious what's inside Hurley's guitar case too...

Another interesting parallel...they took young Ben to the temple when Sayid shot him, whereas now Sayid is at the temple himself...

LOOK! His head is bashed now just like it was on the plane earlier!

So Juliet's "dead words" are "It worked." My question is, how does she know that? And then this whole thing w/ Sayid and Jacob's message. Now that just re-affirms my suspicion that there's a way to "course-correct" and undo the changes. Maybe even a merging of the two separate timelines we're seeing right now.

I'm positive this is what they did to young Ben. And if I remember right, he was wet when he came out too. They said Ben wouldn''t be the same, this time, w/ Sayid, they said there were risks. I wonder if they are related.

This is the same as with Charlie, even down to what Kate is telling Jack, that he's not coming back.

There's Claire! Nice to see her after basically an entire season w/ a no show!

Ok, so where is "home" for this anti-Jacob?

My mom just made a good insight: the comment the anti-Jacob just made about everyone else not knowing that their lives off the island were really pathetic. That could be what that timeline is meant to show.

Ok, so Sayid is "alive" again, but is is Sayid, or is it Jacob? Maybe a way for Jacob to come back just like the anti-Jacob?

This was such a great episode, I'm super excited for the rest of the season/series!!

R. This explains how anti-Jacob can become Locke: he's able to take the form of anyone who's dead and on the island. For example: Yemmi (Echo's brother), Christian Shepherd (Jack's dad), and, of course, Locke. I also think he can take their form off the island viz. Charlie and Anna-Lucia appearing to Hurley. Which leads me to my next thought...

- I think we will see an episode, possible the season premiere, where we see anti-Jacob do all the same things that Jacob did in trying to influence our heoroes off the island. Just like we saw Jacob interract w/ Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley, I think we'll see the anti-Jacob interract w/ our firends off the island and help orchestrate their coming (and in some cases coming back) to the island.

- Ok, now about time travel. I've maintained that I think the bomb did NOT change the timeline and that, in fact, Faraday was right the first time when he said you can't change the past "what's happened, happened." Well, I just saw Star Trek (which was AMAZING, btw) and am now beginning to doubt that a bit. Here's why: the movie delt w/ time travel and how it changed the future. Star Trek was directed by JJ Abrams, the creator of LOST, as well as Damon Lindelof who produced Star Trek and, you guessed it, LOST. Because they both worked on Start Trek and LOST, it makes me second guess my hypothesis that they can't change the past/future (depending on your perspective). Still, I think one big reason Abrams had the change the future approach in Star Trek was so he could make more ST movies w/o having to follow the original storyline/arch. We'll see...

R. Something in spanish or italian, maybe? Sounded like liquid something?

- Is the person we thought was Locke actually widmore? Or maybe the other guy from the beginning of the episode who said he wanted to kill Jacob.

- SUUUUUUUUUUUUKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!! I knew I'd hate the end of the season, but cummon! I'm mean really?!?!?!?!? What's the deal w/ this other guy who apparently kille Jacob? Who is he and what's the loophole he found? Did blowing up the bomb actually prevent all the events that happend, or was it the cause of everything in the first place?

And, ok, what's w/ the WHITE? For the first time since the series began, the LOST logo was on a white background! I mean its cool, but why? They ALWAYS do stuff for a reason.

Ok, a few closing thoughts on the season. First, it wasn't as good as season 4, in my opinion. Granted, it was still a great season, but 4 is still my favorite. We've learned quite a bit that we didn't know before and have a much more complete picture of what's going on. However, in the last 2 hours of the show we've gotten several very new questions that I don't even know what to think about or how to address some of the new ideas/concepts/events that have occured during this episode, especially surrounding Jacob and the other guy he was with.

One final thought: While I am, of course, frustrated that I have to wait unitl nearly next February before seeing anything new realted to LOST, I still love the show and, though it drives me crazy, do enjoy thinking about all the posibilities and tyring to figure out what's going on, what's going to happen, and how its all connected. I love this show!

R. I hope not, but I woudn't put it past the LOST people...then again, the island has healing powers, so maybe she won't die. I really hope she doesn't.

- Ok, she didn't get shot. I feel better now.

- Ah, new hypothesis. They are on the island now, they ARE going to blow up the bomb and that's why Desmond gets in the hazmat suit when he goes outside and has to be protected all the time. It's all already happened and it can't be changed...unless maybe Desmond gets involved somehow. That's the only way I can see anything changing.

- "The Tunnels" look just like the inside of the Temple...I wonder if they are 'indigenous' to the island

- And what's the deal w/ Sayid? Where has he been? I can't remember the last time we saw him. He shot Ben, was that the last time? Then he disappeared? Must have been (enjoy that stream of consciousness?)

- Of course, they have to put Kate & Juliet together w/ Sawyer, don't they. "Good Television" or something like that. Oh yeah, its called "conflict"!

- Jack, you're dumb. In 30 years Eloise does tell you how to get back to the island, but she does it so that you can tell her about the bomb so that she can blow up the Dharma Initiative!

- Does Locke really intend to kill Jacob? If so, why? And how on earth does he plan to do that?

- So what's happened to young Ben? Is he still with the others? I think that's the last place we saw him, but that was several weeks ago and I dont remember him getting back w/ the Dharma folks...

...and that doesn't work w/ continuity, since Ben's supposed to be the one who wipes out the Dharma Initiative and not for many many years, so maybe I was wrong about the H-Bomb going off...

Oh my goodness, next week is the season finale! That's crazy! I'm excited and afraid of what the ending/cliff hanger is going to be. I'm sure what ever it is will make me crazy and give me lots of stuff to wonder over the summer. Let's see, what have they done in the past?

Season 1 - Opening up the Hatch

Season 2 - Hatch blowing up, the sky turning purple, and Jack, Kate, Hurley, and Sawyer being captured by the others

Season 3 - An actual boat arrives to take them off the island

Season 4 - The island disappears!

Season 5 - ??? We'll find out next week!

I LOVE THIS SHOW!

R. He has to know that Candel won't believe him and think he's crazy. And what about the whole "you can't change the future" thing? I know he mentions that they are the variables, but the problem is that they are surrounded by constants, so I'm not convinced they could change anything from the past

- Dan's notebook seems to have writings of what's going to happen. He consulted it several times and then somehow knows where people are or where they are going

- Ok, I get what Dan's trying to do, but if he stops the plane from crashing, then none of them were there on the island, so they didn't go back in time to stop the plane from crashing...which is your typical time-travel paradox issue. It just can't happen.

- I've never really been a fan of Eloise Hawking, but now I really don't like her. She sent Dan back to the island knowing full well that she'd kill him! I understand the whole 'destiny' thing, but even Faraday trys to change that, you'd think a mother of all people would at least TRY!

- I'm really curious to see if we get to find out what happens when the EM energy explodes under the Swan station and we get to see the aftermath! It may blow our heroes back to the 'present' but I'm really hoping we get to find out what it caused!

Ok, those are my meager thoughts this week. Is it because he remembers his horrible childhood, perhaps? Its the one thing that I can't really understand about Ben. He's so purely evil with everything except for children, apparently. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he is, but it just surprises me.

- Hmmm, the whole smoke monster thing has been really interesting. First, the fact that it is just smoke blows my idea that its mechanical out of the water (unless there are 2 parts to it and we only saw one part tonight). Second, it let Ben live, which is somewhat surprising on one hand, but not from a storytelling standpoint. Third, when we saw Alex alive again, I'm pretty sure its not Alex, but actually the smoke monster, just like Yemmi was for Echo. Fourth, Ben's supposed to follow Locke and not kill him like he planned (which doesn't surprise me that he was planning on re-killing Locke), but I'm not sure if Ben will actually follow Locke or not. Only time will tell

This was a really good episode, I thought! We got more answers/additional information, but with it came many different ideas and things to think through and process.

Have I ever mentioned that I love this show?!

R. These are my thoughts about seeing it, though keep in mind that I'm pushing myself to stay awake, so if it doesn't make sense, blame it on jet lag.

- So Sawyer wanted Kate to deal w/ helping Cassidy/Clementine, huh? Interesting that that's what the whole big deal was about. Why couldn't Kate tell Jack?

- Wow, the weird loop of Ben needing Jack to save his live again (or for the first time, depending on how you look at it: Hurley), yet this time he doesn't do it, and it looks like that's what leads to Ben being the way he is, at least in part (I still believe you are responsible for your actions, even if the situation pushed you in one direction over another).

- Go Hurley! I love the connection w/ time travel and Back to the Future!

- Everthing seems to be pointing towards Faraday's assessment of time travel: you can't change what's already been done, you can only discover how it came to be. This seems to be proving true w/ Ben as well.

- The conversation between Hurley and Miles where they talk about Ben not remembering Sayid shooting him could be resolved in 2 ways. 1) Richard said Ben wouldn't remember any of it and it could go back as far as being shot. 2) Ben could remember, yet not tell Sayid that he remembers, but that could influence why Ben is convinced that Sayid is a killer by nature.

- Is Kate being 100% truthful when she says she went back to the island to find Claire? I guess I doubt that that's her only motivation, though it could be the deciding factor, if you understand the difference.

Ok, I've got to clear off some stuff from my bed and then I think I'm heading that direction...

R. These are the thoughts I have now looking back on the episode.

- I'm intrigued that the statue of the 4 toe-ed whatever is standing currently. I wonder what its a statue of and why its there.

- Is the baby that Amy has going to be an important character, or is that not the important part?

- Ok, so Horace. I remember that we've seen him before. Was he the guy that Ben's dad originally talked to to get to the island? We've also seen him as his "dead self", I think as he appeared to Locke. The only other person I can think of that he could have appeared to was Hurley, but I'm pretty sure it was Locke, though I can't remember why or what exactly their interraction was. I'm thinking...season 3?

- Sawyer has gone thru such a transformation from the beginning of the series! He takes charge of the group and instead of lying to Richard, ends up telling him the truth. He knows he has the upper hand as he knows more than Richard does, but I still find it interesting that he tells the truth.

- What about Sawyer and Juliet! I wouldn't have predicted that before this episode. I did see it coming in this episode. I'm sure there are many a Sawyer fan that are not too happy right now!

- Ok, so what happened, what changed so that the babies started dying on the island? When did the problem arrise? Could it be a byproduct of the gas, whatever it was, that Ben released to help kill the Dharma initiative folks? I have a feeling its something that Ben caused, which would explain why he wanted Juliet to fix the problem so badly.

- Of course, the dramatic ending with Sawyer seeing Kate for the 1st time in 3 years, and not telling Juliet that Jack's crew came back to the island. Sparks and tension will be soon coming, I'm sure!

- Ok, and what's w/ the 3 years thing? Even though Sawyer's group has been traveling thru time and Jack & his crew were in the future, they both aged 3 years from when Jack & Co. left the island. Interesting how the Island keeps their time continuity in that way, even though they are in 1977.

All in all a good episode. I wasn't into it as much as some of the previous ones, but it was good to fill in some gaps and to give us an idea where we're going and the issues that will need to be tackled next!

Side Note: I'm now beginning to try to figure out what the last season will be about. I'm wondering if it will be "the war" between Ben & Widmore that seemed to be hinted at earlier this season...

R. I want to know what it says! I'll be that's the scrap of paper Jack had in his hand when he arrived back on the island at the beginning of the episode

- So, here's my hope: the plane doesn't actually crash, but rather the island magically gets all the right people from the plane onto the island, and that means Ben gets left on the plane w/ the other passengers he doesn't care about. That would pretty much make my day!

- I really thought this whole season would just be about how they got back to the island. Since they are back now, I guess I'm wrong

- Well, I guess I got the answer to my question about when the islanders are. They are back w/ the DHARMA Initiative (I should have guessed that since we already saw Dan back in that time way back at the beginning of the season)

Have I ever mentioned that I love this show?!

R. They're just going to leave us hanging like that?!

-Desmond knows the lady, Eloise, from his vision, but he hasn't said anything yet.

-She's letting them go back w/o the rest of those who left, apparently, she seems to know more about this whole thing than even Ben does, and seems to be in charge of Ben, which is saying alot

-She's Dan's mother, which is crazy (though I think I guesed that as a posibility already) because its yet another way everyone's interconnected

Wow, even though this episode wasn't quite as exciting during the main portion of it, the last 5 minutes were amazingly great!!

R. I'm gathering that we're now in the future. I would venture a guess that it's people somehow connected to Widmore, just 'cause he wants to get back. I am intrigued by the name of the Indian airline water bottle thing, though. Did another plane crash? Did they drop out of the sky? How did they find the island since it moved/is moving?

- Claire's mom is the one who's trying to get Aaron! How does she know its her granddaughter, I wonder? I would venture a guess that either Ben or Widmore is involved in her knowing somehow...

- Hmmm, so Claire's mom doesn't actually know, and the laywer is actually working for Ben. I knew it was conneted to Ben/Widmore somehow...

- Wait a minute...that was Jin. Is he still alive, or are we in the past somewhere? I originally thought that this was the french mission that Ruseau was on (and it may still be), but if that's the case, is this Jin in the past somehow, or is it Jin from the boat that blew up, but he didn't actually die, and he's moving thru time w/ the rest of everyone and that's how he got there?

- Ha! I was right, it is Ruseau!!

Now I need to go watch the first half that I missed and update w/ any other pieces of interest. Oh, and I have to go to work in the morning too.

R. I'm on my laptop watching TV, so you're getting the play by play as I think of it, not just after the show's over. Here you go!

- Oooo, they are back in time w/ the young "others". I think that's really cool! Of course Richard is still the same age by whatever weird way that works which we still don't know. But I'm assuming that this is old enough that Ben isn't around yet, though we don't know yet. Locke seems to know when it is based on the gun, but got cut off. Hmmm...

- Interesting that Juliet knows that Richard will be there, even though its in the past.

- Locke thinks the others are "his people," huh? Wow, he's taking on the whole leadership role thing pretty seriously, even though its in the past.

- It's pretty convienient that the flashes/time shifts are not happening as quickly now, now that they need to spend more time with these people and gain more info. : )

- Anyone else notice the painting on the wall of Widmore's office? A polar bear. : )

- You gotta' love Sawyer's line "Aw, you told her?!" : )

- Oh my gosh!!! Charles Widmore was on the island in the 50s!! He WAS there way before Ben. So the question now is: is he a good guy? Does he actually have more right to be on the island than Ben? I would guess that they are both bad. Maybe they met when Ben met Richard and agreed to help the others take down the Dharma initiative. If that's the case, there's much more to their back story than we'll find out quickly.

- Oh, Desmond & Penny named their son Charlie. That's really cool. I also admire his committment to Penny, willing to give everything up for her, and Penny's understanding and willing to support him in his weird endevor.

- Hmm, I wonder what's gong on w/ Charlotte. Her blood thing came right after they "flashed" through time again. Obviously its tide to that somehow, but why her and not any of the rest of them I'm still baffled.

- I wonder if Daniel's mother is the creepy lady from Desmond's time experience and the one Ben consulted w/ the giant pendulum. Not sure, but I think it might be the case. It'd make sense, I guess. I could also be totally off base.

To sum it all up, I'm really enjoying this season. I'm not quite as jazzed as season 4, but it's still great and I'm enjoying the time travel aspects quite alot. Can't wait for next week!

R. Yes, I realize that sounds silly, but I did take notes while watching last year. This year, at least this week, I just don't have the energy for it.

So now, here are my meager thoughts:

- I'll start w/ the end. So the lady in the church is the lady from Desmond's time travel experience way back when. At that time I didn't think she was real...well she is! She seamed pretty ominous too. And down in her lair she had a pendulum going and the marks it was making looked like what happens as the earth spins on its axis.

- As much as I know the way the writers on LOST work, I still don't trust Ben. Not that I think Widmore is better, but as Ben was trying to convince Hurley to go with him, I couldn't help but be glad for Hurley's choice...except for that's exactly what Anna-Lucia told him not to do

- Which, btw, is kinda' freaky. What's with the dead people. Are they maybe not really dead? That's what seems to be implied about Locke. And Anna-Lucia says that Libby says hi. Does this mean that there's hope for Hurley to get together w/ Libby sometime in the future of LOST? That'd be cool.

- As a side note, the whole thing w/ Hurley being able to see dead people and they tell him things he needs to do, but no one else really sees what's going on reminds me of a friend of mine, Carl. I know that sounds weird, but he knows what I mean. : )

- Sawyer and his shirt. I don't remember if this came to me in this episode or the previous one, but I think him not having his shirt and wanting one so desparately symbolizes his vulnerability and his desire to be able to put up some of his defences again. I think this came to me when Sawyer had Dan gripped and was talking about how everyone he cared about was on the boat/chopper.

That's all I can think about for now. Perhaps I'll post more as I think about more. Hope you enjoy.

R. Truthfuly I've been a bit afraid that season 5 won't live up to all that season 4 was. While there's still much left before I'll know for sure, this first episode gives me a good feeling.

- I love that they're still doing time travel stuff, and actually more intense now! It seems that they're taking a deterministic approach (which they hinted to previously w/ Desmond), which I do find a bit more interesting story-wise than the Back to the Future model where you can change the future. I'm interested to see how it all ends up, though.

- So my current hypothesis relates to the very beginning of the episode w/ the Candle/Hanso guy. When he was talking about all the energy stored behind that wall and that if it was released it would cause issues or whatever; maybe that's why Alex was able to be killed and Widmore was able to break "the rules;" because perhaps when the hatch blew up it released that energy. On the other hand, it could also be what Ben did that released that energy and that's why Dan is all concerned that they need help.

- Last thought: can I just say that Hurley isn't very bright in this episode? I mean, why pick up the gun in the first place, and then to hold it and look over the side at the dead guy? Really, common, that's silly even for Hurley.

Those are my thoughts for now, I'm going to try to get the other one watched tonight before bed, if I can stay up that long.

R. The first one is her father, but she doesn't mention the second person. Who might it be?

- I LOVE the way they started this episode! The picked up right where they left off at the end of the season 3 finale. Its really clever and gives us lots more info, like...

- So the guy in the coffin at the end of season 3 is Jeremy Bentham. But who the heck is he?!

- They've been off the island for 3 years! That's much longer than I thought.

- Kate helps save Ben. That was a bit of a surprise. She must really want to get off the island to stick her neck out for him. But I didn't think she wanted off since she's still wanted.

- We know that those on the island are still alive: Hurley suggests that when talking to older Walt, saying that the Oceanic 6 lied to protect those still on the island (though there may be some people who are dead)

- So it seems that having the Oceanic 6 lie about what really happened was actually Locke's idea, and thereby Jack's suggestion to the 6. That's totally not what I thought.

- I love that we have confirmed time tavel! Yes, I'm geeky, ok?

- Ben really doesn't care about the people on the boat, he cares more about his revenge. Yet another confirmation that he's evil and I hate him.

-Charlotte is looking for where she was born? So she thinks she was born on the island? I wonder if she's a bigger piece to this story than we think...

- Wow! What a switch for Sawyer! He sacrifices himself for the others in the chopper. He totally wouldn't have done that in the first season. I wonder what he whispered to Kate? I think it probably has something to do with what Kate was doing for Sawyer in an earlier episode that made Jack all upset when she wouldn't tell him what she was doing for Sawyer.

- So Jeremy Bentham isn't actually his name; it must be someone else that we actually know...

- Ok, I'm officially not happy... it looks like Jin is actually dead. Not only that, but Sun had to see him still there left on the boat and then the whole thing blow up! That's horrible!! And for the icing on the cake, The icky, nasty Christian was there at the end w/ Michael. Have I mentioned that I don't like Christian?

- I'll bet several of you figured this out earlier than I did, but when John talked about moving the island, maybe he was talking about moving it in TIME not in SPACE. That could explain why Ben sorta' blew up the "vault" which appears to be the time machine.

- Whoever moves the island can never come back...is Ben telling the truth? Can he really not ever come back to the island? I have trouble believe that. I wonder if its another half-truth Ben's so good at.

- And I'm a bit frustrated that we don't actually get to see how Ben gets off the island. Darn! But seeing Ben "move the island" is really interesting. His comment to Jacob that he hopes he's happy seems to fit the idea that Ben & Jacob haven't exactly seen eye to eye on how to run things. Also the expression on his face, almost looks like sadness, and I'd think we're supposed to think its because he knows he's leaving the island. We'll see.

- Oh my goodness, the island actually disapeared. This season is definitley way more sci-fi than any previous season.

- Penny & Desmond reunite!!!! That's so freaking cool! It's horrible that Jin dies, but its balanced in many ways by the reconnection of Penny & Des.

- Jeremy Bentham is LOCKE!!!!!!!

- And they have to ALL go back in order to get back to the island? Really? So is the next season going to be all about the 6 + Locke trying to get back to the island?

Wow, so I totally loved seaons 4. Its my favorite by far so far. Just so sad that we now have to wait until next January, over 6 months, before the next episode.

R. I know I've seen the Horace character before, but I don't remember exactly where. I wonder if he's somehow related to John

- Richard finds John right after he's born! That's pretty interesting. Though he seems to be frustrated that John isn't what he's supposed to be, which is too bad. However, the big tall black guy that wheels his wheelchair later, the guy who works for Widmore and organized the whole ship expedition back to the island, he finds Locke and recognizes that he's important...

- ...though he also says that John is going to owe him, which concerns me

- Not significant, but funny. When Hurley askes what happened to the Darhma guys, Locke says "He did," referring to Ben. : )

- Oh yeah, and Widmore's man is the one who gave John the idea of a walkabout. Interesting, and the interconnections continue!

- I'm actually a little annoyed that Christian Shepherd (Jack's dad) is around, not dead, and claims to be speaking for Jacob. I want to see Jacob and find out what his deal is. Christian just bothers me, and that Claire trusts him bothers me too. Though her trust in him is probably why she's willing to let Aaron go.

R. It's so nice to have the show back on again, and tonights episode did not dissapoint (unilke the last episode).

Here's my thoughts on the episode, as always, also posed on the google group.

-As the LOSTies are playing the game of risk (which I guessed, btw), you couldn't have missed the reference to Australia and how its "the key to the whole game." I can't believe that that's just referring to the game. It probably has some veiled meaning/connection to the actual country and why the LOSTies came from their before crashing.

- In the first flash forward, we see Ben's jacket (in the desert, which is interesting, yeah?) with the name Halowax on it. Edgar Halowax is the guy in the orientation videos. Interesting connection, yeah?

- Also, I think Ben used the transportation device we've yet to see to get to the desert, the same one used to transport the polar bear to Tunisia we saw earlier in the season.

- When I saw the missile hit Claire's house, I wasn't convinced she was dead...at least not yet. If she does die, I think it'll come later, possibly next season. Jury's still out on whether she'll actually die, or just be prevented from leaving the island w/ Aaron.

- The date Ben arrives in Tunisia is October 24, 2005, over one year after the plane crash. Interesting that he has to double check what the date is. This is either a reference to time travel, or a time envelope that surrounds the island. Something like that, I'm still not sure on the details (though very intrigued)

- The name Ben gives to the hotel clerk is Moriarty, probably an allusion to Moriarty, the arch nemesis of Sherlock Holmes. The LOST writers are VERY well read!

- I think its interesting to watch the story of Sayid unfold...he finds Nadia, marries her, then she gets killed, and that's what initially intices him to kill for Ben. Though again, Ben is the master manipluator and is really pulling the strings there.

- So I'm confused: was it Ben or Widmore who staged the fake crash of Oceanic flight 815? I originally thought it was Widmore, then Ben, and now it seems to be Ben again. Though I do realize that Ben is a liar, so he may not be telling the truth here. I'll need to re-watch the episode where the captian talks to the LOSTies about it.

- As much as I'm sad that Alex gets killed (she's about the most innocent person on the island), I have to say I get mild satisfaction that Ben, the master manipulator, loses control and his manipulation doesn't hold up. He was betting on the shooter to give up, but he calls Ben's bluff instead.

- Which leads to another interesting point/comment, when Ben remarks that "he changed the rules." I wonder what the rules are. We later find out that Charles Widmore is the "he" that changed them, but why can he do that? Does he have some form of control on the island, even though he can't find it?

- With the black smoke, first, that's the nastiest we've seen it so far. It was huge, and it was mad. Second, did Ben actually call it in the sense of being in control of it, or did he do something to anger it or motivate it to attack those guys? Ben always wants to appear in control, but I'm wondering if maybe he's not perfectly in control. I dunno

- Also interesting that Sawyer cares so much for the other LOSTies. He goes after Claire, he sticks up for Hurley. Its quite a switch. It'd be interesting to see if it could be traced back to him killing Locke's father; if getting that emotional baggage taken care of has freed him up to care for those around him. Either way, he's definatly a leader now.

-Why can't Ben kill Widmore? Is it because he wants to kill Penny first? Is it part of "the rules?" So many new questions!

I loved this episode! There were answers and new information, as well as new questions. The perfect balance of the two that keeps me both satisfied and wanting more!

R. I've taken notes during the episodes so I'd know what interesting thoughts to post about. I've thought, often wrongly, about who the Oceanic 6 are, who's going to die, and other interesting points. Its been a great season.

So I guess I shouldn't be surprised that eventually an episode came that didn't live up to the standard that was set. Tonight's episode was that episode. I mean, it was fine, not horrible or anything, but I didn't feel like I got any big reveals, any ah-ha moments, or anything that really got me excited. All in all I was dissapointed by the episode (not to mention my frustration that there wasn't an enhansed episode on before it).

I don't feel like I have much to say. I think it's silly that Mr. Friendly is gay. I didn't need to know and would rather not have known. Michael feels bad, yet still continues in his bad decisions. There was no suspence about him hitting the "Execute" button, because we know the boat and Michael make it. The only thing that is even a little worth discussing are who shot Karl and Ruseau. I think it's the rest of The Others; I think they're near enough to the temple (which, by the way, is a Dahrma station, not an actual temple) that its being guarded. Of course I could be wrong, as I often am about things.

Overall, largely dissapointed tonight.

R. It really seems like the first half, at least, of the show isn't any thing special, then all of a sudden things come together at the end. Anyway, here's the thoughts for tonight's episode:

- Sun & Jin the final part of the Oceanic 6. I totally called it! I have to give credit to Joia, since we sorta' came to the conclusion together...ok, so it was really all Joia, I just agreed, but whatever.

- Although I have to say, its possible Jin isn't actually one of the Oceanic 6, since everyone thinks he's dead, in which case we're still waiting on one more. And the more I think about it, the more likely this seems...

- What's w/ Juliet telling Jin about Sun's affair? Did she think it'd earn her some trust points? Definatly not the strategy I'd've taken. Seems as though the years of being an Other has influenced her.

- So did you notice? Right after the scene on the fishing canoe w/ Jin and Bernard, when they were talking about karma, you see the Ship and it's name. I didn't get it exactly, but its something like: KAHAMA. Whatever it is is really close to Karma. And since the show is LOST, its not a coincidence.

- So apparently, acording to the captian (who can't be trusted), Ben is the one who staged the fake crash of Oceanic 815. That's crazy. He really must have the "magic box" to get whatever he wants. Creepy...

- Ok, I have to say, though that I DID totally call it on Michael! After last week when Ben to Locke that he'd have to sit down to find out who his man was on the boat, I knew it was Michael. Interesting that he's under an assumed name, and that he's working for Ben. That means Ben's been in contact w/ him somehow and that Michael has agreed to work for him. What sort of masterminded manipulation has Ben done now? Is it something with Walt?

- It seems that Jin is in hiding, and possibly in China or something, but I'm not sure about that. He claims to only have been married for 2 months, so we know its not Sun he's talking about. So I wonder now if its actually BEN who gets everyone off the island instead of the ship. Ben's the one in control, as usual. Just like he's controling Sayid, he must be manipulating Jin to not let Sun know he's alive. And that circles back to my first point about Jin not actually being one of the Oceanic 6, since Sun thinks he's dead. Unless there was a staged death after they got back...oh the complex possibilities!

R. Check those out at the google group linked to above.

- So what's the deal w/ the whispers? Those have been around since the beginning of the show, all the way back to Season 1 when Ruseau talks about being able to hear them in the jungle. Based on what happened in tonight's episode, I wonder if its somehow connected to a teleportation device. Maybe something related both to the rabbits in the unaired DHARMA training video (available on youtube and the LOST website) and the Polar Bear located in Tunisai, Africa in the beginning of this season. Who knows, just a guess

- So it seems that we've now identified the two main power players in the season: Ben and Widmore. I don't really know who to root for. I don't like Ben; he's manipulative, posessive, power-hungry, and arrogant. Yet Widmore is selfish and down right mean. It wouldn't surprise me if in the next few episodes they try to make Ben a bit more sympathetic, but right now I'm not buying it

- Juliet references "Jack & Emma" who seem to be kids. My guess is those are the kids from the plane that the Others kidnaped, but I honnestly don't remember. Does it seem weird to anyone else that they take these kids and then the perspective of Ben is that eventually they'll just "stop asking" about their parents?!

- So is it now official that Jack's w/ Juliet and Kate's w/ Sawyer? The kiss from Jack sure seemed to make it seem like that, but then agian, in the flash forwards we've seen Jack and Kate, and Jack says he still loves her. So, does something happen to Juliet (like she dies) or does she just stay on the island?

- That reminds me of something from the beginning of the episode that I thought was really cleaver. The whole opening scene w/ Juliet and Harper where you don't really know if she's one of the Oceanic 6 or not...they play it up as if she is, but then she's not. While, yes, its sorta' predictable, you have to be honnest and admit that you can't really KNOW which way its going to go because the LOST writers don't follow a formula.

- Oh, did I mention that I don't like Ben? He thinks Juliet is HIS? Does that not bother anyone else?

- The other thing that bothers me a bit in this episode is that, like the title, Juliet is the "other woman." On the one hand, there are consequences to this that she has to live with, but on the other hand, she's chapioned as the heroine (please tell me there's just the one spelling and that I didn't just make a big mistake), even though she's in the wrong. Seems to tipify the moral relativism that is common in our culture. Her wrong isn't as bad as that of Ben's, so its not that big a deal. Also, Harper is a jerk, so that justifies Juliet's actions...I'm just not ok w/ that.

- End credits, the notice said that next week we learn the "last of the Oceanic 6". I don't know if that means there are 5 we should know now, or if we get to know the last 2 next week. I'm going to assume the latter, since I don't count Ben or Aaron, for several reasons, including info gleaned from the Podcasts I've listened to recently. : )

Sad thing is that we only have 4 more episodes before the end of the season, but I plan to enjoy every one of them!

R. So far season 4 is matching my interest and "hooked-ness" from season 2. I'm really enjoying this show, in case you haven't noticed. : ) Now for my thoughts from the episode:

- As much as I'd like to think I have the whole island time thing figured out, I just can't quite figure it out. Its probably because its not a constant like I'm trying to make it. Here's what we know:
-- the rocket from the boat is 31 minutes AHEAD of the island time
-- 1 day on the island is about 20 minutes via heilicopter

- The whole thing where Faraday tells Desmond to find him in the past, well, that just sealed it for me, LOST has been getting more scifi this season, and tonight's episode was TOTALLY scifi. Not that I mind, of course, but I think its interesting that such a mainstream show would go that scifi. I like it. : )

- We find out that Penny has been calling the boat, but no one's been allowed to answer. Why is she calling the boat? Does she know they are looking for the Island? Does she know where they are? She clearly knows who they are. I wonder if Charlie's comment to her asking if she was on the boat acutally instegated her calling the ship or something. Interesting twist...

- At the auction, the book/journal thing from the 1st mate of the Black Rock ship (which is located on the island, I'm sure you remember) was owned by the Hanso family. The guy who does all the Orientation Videos, you know his last name? That's right, Hanso. Interesting subtle connection to the Dharma Inititive.

- And I have to say, what's w/ Mr. Widmore not turning off the water in the bathroom w/ Desmond? That's just weird.

Again, many cool things in this episode, though less character things and more island and science-y things. But I'm ok w/ that. : ) Can't wait until next week!

R. Be that as it may, by the end there were still several interesting points and questions raised!

- We find out partway thru that Kate has a baby, but the immediate question is: is it Sawyer's kid or not?

- Then, during Jack's testimony, we get to hear a bit about the lie the Oceanic 6 are telling everyone. But what I found the most interesting is that Jack said 8 people survived, not 6. So what happened to the other supposed 2? Does the story say that they died later, or was there something else that happened to the 6 besides surviving the crash that made them famous?

- Also during his testimony, Jake says he doesn't love Kate "any more". The question I asked myself at the time was whether or not that was true, and if so, what happened to change things. I think we got the answer later in the episode.

- Then there's the minor scene where Danny & Charlotte are doing the thing w/ the cards. I'm wondering if part of Danny's issues has to do with memories. Remember, back in the 1st episode, we found out (in the enhanced version) that the woman in the backgroud when we first see Danny is his caretaker, not his wife. I wonder if he has a disability or something and came to the island in hopes for healing?

- Why doesn't Jack want to see the baby? Does he feel guilty about something? Dose he disapprove? Is he jealous? All interesting questions, made even more interesting when we actually meet the baby...

- His name is Aaron! So he's either Claire's baby, in which case, what happened to Claire? We know, based on Desmond's vision, that she and Aaron get on the heilicopter, but does she die or have something else happen to her? Is it all part of Ben's icky plan that he's orchestrating? Or is it actually Kate's baby, but she named him Aaron for some other reason (I think this is less likely, but for LOST, still possible).

All in all, interesting issues that came up in this episode. The tide seems to be changing, and I think next week will lead to some new directions, even if not many more answers.

R. Here's my thoughts on the latest episode:

Ok, I'm a little upset. I just finished typing this whole thing, then google tweaked out and I lost the whole post. I will attempt to re- write it all, but it might not be as good as the first time thru; sorry.

-The experiment Farady was running was very interesting to me. The clock that arrived from the ship ended up being off by 31 minutes. I didn't notice which one was ahead of the other, though I'd assume the island time was behind based on the fact that the rocket took longer to get to the island. So it seems the island has some time-altering effects, like time dilation or something.

-The time thing is interesting, since right before we see the clocks, Jack was talking to the heilicopter pilot about being on the island for 100 days. So it makes me think that its not really 100 days. If its time dilation, then that means that more time has passed off the island

-I'm realizing that this could explain why Richard (mascara man) doesn't really age from the Dahrma time to the "present". Also it could be related to why women can't have babies, maybe?
-And I must make the connection to the main guy on the ship who's named after the guy who came up with "spacetime" which totally connects to the stuff we're coming up with now too. This show is getting more and more science-y. I LOVE it!

-I totally predicted when Syid said "the day I trust Ben is the day I sell my soul" that he would of course be trusting Ben. It also fit that in the flash forwards it already appeared that he had sold his soul

-I think I was talking to Laura in the copy room, but I totally predicted that Ben was really in charge still. It fits. He's the one that Kate knew would know that she was gone when she met Jack at the airport (sorry, its not Sawyer).

-Who is "R.C." on Naomi's bracelett? And did you notice that the german gal Syid kills had one on too?

-BTW: I don't think that Desmond is one of the 6. Yes, he's on the heilicopter, but I really don't think he makes it off...unless he ends up dying.

R. Ben is a master manipluator, and one major way he does this is by controling information. He knows losts, and only doles it out when its advantageous for himself, like towards the end of this episode...

- Did any of you catch the literary reference? The lady from the heilicopter, her name is C-something Staples Lewis. C. S. Lewis. And C. S. Lewis' name in full was Clive Staples Lewis, so they are virtually the same thing. I wonder if there are any other connections there...

Overal I felt there were less interesting developments in this episode than in the last one. All the flashbacks were of characters we have no attachment to, so I think that made it less impactful. Some interesting info, but overall, not much new, not much development. I enjoyed 401 much more, even the second time around.

R. I wonder this because in Desmond's vision of Charlie, he saw her getting into a heilicoper.

- Hurley saw Jacob! This has to be important. Not everyone saw him, and Ben is worried when John hears him, so that probably means Hurley has something special about him (other than being probably the coolest charater on the island)

- I think Locke was 'the eye' that Hurley saw in the window when looking into Jacob's cabin. I think Locke went back to talk to Jacob and knows more than we know he knows

- What on earth did Charlie mean when he appeared to Hurley and said he was "dead, but here?" Does that mean he's more than just a halucination of Hurley's?

- When the guy who comes to see Hurley and pretends to be a lawyer, he asks if "they" are alive. I originally assumed he was talking about the rest of Oceanic Flight 815, but I'm thinking he may very well be talking about another "they"

- I'm wondering if what causes all the problems we see in the flash forwards isn't directly those who come to the island, but somehow a result of the fact that the non-others split into two groups. That could explain why Hurley tells Jack that he should have stayed with Jack...

R. And here it is. I'll try to post after every episode, and I also welcome comments so we can get a good discussion going here. Have fun!

R.
